User privacy is very important. It ensures that GoVarks.com can be trusted. The goal of this policy is to inform you of what information is accessed, who accesses it, and to inform you of it in the most straightforward way possible. Cookies & Local Storage

GoVarks.com uses cookies to store your token in your browser. Your token is used to authenticate you, and is a randomly generated string of characters generated when you log in. Without it, we'd have to have you log in every single time you visit the site.

Local storage is used to store your preference of dark mode or light mode. It is only used once you change your mode, which can be done when logged in.

Personal Information

Many students have profiles on GoVarks.com. This means that the GoVarks.com database stores personal information for the athletes. Here's an explanation on what information we include and how/why we use it:

• Full name - your full name is used to differentiate between different profiles and makes it easier to change the shortened names.
• School email - your school email allows us to verify you when you log in and send any important information to you.
• Password - if you have set up a password for GoVarks.com, then it is stored in our database. It is used to make the authentication process faster and easier on the user's end.
• Class year - the year that you graduate is used to easily hide alumni from the current athletes page, and the year is also displayed on your profile.
• Athletics - the sports you play, any Athletic.net IDs, sports statistics, and jersey numbers are used to create your athlete profile.
• IP Address - your IP address is accessible by any website you visit, but GoVarks.com does not store your IP address.

Third parties

GoVarks.com uses third parties in order to improve user experience. These third parties will also have access to your IP address, but whether or not they use it is based on their own separate privacy policies.

• Cloudinary - this is used for image hosting, so many user-uploaded images linked on the site are hosted by Cloudinary.
• Google Analytics - this is used to track the most popular pages on GoVarks.com, as well as additional statistics.
